Holiday Family Traditions // Columbus, Ohio In-Home Documentary Session

Holiday celebrations and family time don’t always go together like peanut butter and jelly, but when they do — magic can happen. I had the opportunity to connect with a pretty amazing family recently, and I just had to share some of the moments from our morning together.

I often connect with families through local facebook forums focused on motherhood. People often post that they are looking for local photographers, and I happily send over my page with a snippet about why I love photographing families. Sometimes my style resonates with them, and sometimes it doesn’t. Somehow, it always seems to turn out for the best either way — I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok.

This avenue is precisely how I connected with this family. When Whitney contacted me about coming by their home for a last minute photo session to capture some at-home Holiday magic, I was instantly thrilled. The way that she spoke of her family, their traditions, and their love for spending the Holidays together, I knew we would be a good match.

I showed up that morning and was greeted with an overwhelming sense of heart and love resonating throughout their home. Laughter and chatter worked its way through the halls. We spent some time grabbing a few more traditional family photos for their Christmas Card, and then just naturally settled in to capturing some holiday traditions. I felt completely honored to be a part of this, and am so grateful this family made me an honorary member for the morning.
